I've just had a revelation. He doesn't yell while he is in transition, just when sitting or standing, so the key is to keep him moving. Yeah, like that will work.
He had pulled himself up on the couch the other day, and for some reason had one of those little wrist rattles on his arm. He got into his standing position, and noticed the rattle, and took his little hand and grabbed the rattle. Letting go of the couch. He stood there for 10 seconds or so, then realized what was going on, and fell down. My little man is growing up so fast!
Other new things:
- He claps. It's cute
- He waves. This is also very cute.
- He stands up in his crib. Not so cute, especially at 4 am.
- He snores, just like daddy. This is hopefully just temporary with the cold weather.
- He says something that sounds a lot like "I want my mama." We don't know what it means.
- When mommy laughs he laughs back. Even if he is sad or upset about something.
- He can climb the stairs (with supervision). He giggles while he goes up and down.

Our son is just about 8 months too. Three more days. He is up on all fours and swaying... it won't be long. :-/
